5 questions for a language learner in later life #10

What do people say about learning a language when they’re older?

Carolina is Brazilian and learning English is her hobby.

  1. How do you feel about learning English?
It’s a lot of fun. I enjoy watching TV shows in English. I can now read books in English and understand more. And I also like speaking with tourists who come to my hometown.

  2. What’s the hardest thing about learning English?
Every year I take an online course with Christina and learn new things. I don’t want to lose what I’m learning between courses.

  3. How do you overcome this?
Christina gives me lots of tips for what I can do on my own to practise what we’ve done in class like 5-minute writing. That helps me a lot.

  4. What are your goals?
Continue to improve my speaking and listening and reading.

  5. What’s your advice for older people who want to learn a language?
It’s not easy to remember new words. But if you do something fun nearly every day you will get better.
