Ready to reset your regular language learning routine?
Once you’ve rallied your motivation and decided your objectives, head for your first milestone using:
Step 3: Do something regularly
Choose a minimum viable activity which is a task you’ll manage to do most days.
I’m going to alternate between active copying and 5-minute writing for 6 days of the week.
By paying attention when copying sections from reviews of TV shows and movies, I’ll learn new vocabulary and phrases that model how to talk naturally about the show I’m watching.
By writing nonstop for 5 minutes, I’ll practise using the new vocabulary to give my opinion about the current show, the setting, the plot and the characters.
I’ll do my MVA in the morning.
And in the evening, I’ll watch and rewatch part of an episode to train my listening. Repeating key scenes also means I’ll reinforce everyday expressions.
Sometimes I’ll watch a scene with subtitles and then without them or without subtitles and then with them or even no subtitles at all, depending on how I’m feeling that evening.
I’ve found having a flexible dailyish routine is more fun than a fixed one.
I start tonight!
How about you?
Are you ready to reset your language learning project too?
Then check in with your motivation, decide your objectives, do something regularly and enjoy your language learning.
And if you need a hand getting back on track, I can help.
